Design for Change (DFC) is a global educational movement that empowers children and youth to create positive change in their communities, making the world a better place. Founded in 2009 by Kiran Bir Sethi in India, DFC is now implemented in over 70 countries worldwide.
With the support of sponsors, two of our student teams had the opportunity to participate in the DFC Turkey National Competition, held on May 9–11, 2025, at Mirada Del Mar Hotel in Antalya.
Our team Trashformers, consisting of 10A students Enes Uçak, Umut Pek, Yiğit Kaan Karakaş and 12E student Ali Eren Korkmaz, won both the “First Place” award in the Change Stars category and the “Most Realistic Budget” award.
Our second team, Waste Heroes, made up of 9A students Eren Geylan, Murat Enes Gülşen, Alperen Kayra Karayiğit, and Ömer Faruk Uçtu, was awarded “Second Place.”
Out of a total of 26 teams, including 12 in the high school category, our students stood out with their creative and impactful projects and earned the right to participate in the international DFC event in Japan this coming November.
Alongside the competition, our students also took part in workshops on arts and robotics, and enjoyed various sports activities, making it a fun and enriching three-day experience.

Design for Change (DFC), çocuklar ve gençlerin dünyayı daha iyi bir yer hâline getirmek için kendi çevrelerinde değişim yaratmalarını teşvik eden küresel bir eğitim hareketidir. 2009 yılında Hindistan’da Kiran Bir Sethi tarafından başlatılmıştır ve bugün 70’ten fazla ülkede uygulanmaktadır.
9-11 Mayıs 2025 tarihinde Antalya, Mirada Del Mar Hotel’de düzenlenen Türkiye Ulusal Yarışmasına sponsor desteği ile iki takımımız katılma şansı elde etti.
10A sınıfı öğrencilerimiz Enes Uçak, Umut Pek, Yiğit Kaan Karakaş ve 12E sınıfı öğrencimiz Ali Eren Korkmaz’dan oluşan Trashformers takımımız hem değişim yıldızları kategorisinde “Birincilik” hem de “En Gerçekçi Bütçe” ödülüne layık görüldü.
9A sınıfı öğrencilerimiz Eren Geylan, Murat Enes Gülşen, Alperen Kayra Karayiğit ve Ömer Faruk Uçtu’dan oluşan Waste Heroes takımı da “İkincilik” ödülüne layık görüldü.
Toplamda 26, lise kategorisinde ise 12 takımın katıldığı yarışmada ödül alan öğrencilerimiz Kasım ayında Japonya’da düzenlenecek uluslararası etkinliğe katılma hakkı elde etti.
Yarışma yanında sanat, robotik gibi alanlarda atölyelere de katılan öğrencilerimiz spor etkinliklerine de katılarak keyifli bir üç gün geçirdi.
Bu özel etkinliğe katılmamızı sağlayan DFC Türkiye Temsilcisi Elif Özmenek Çarmıklı, DFC Korrdinatörü Arda Ergez, Didem Tort ve tüm DFC ekibine teşekkür eder, öğrencilerimi tebrik ederim.
